Huge Cottonwoods

I have had a lot on my mind lately, and by lately I mean the past 2 months or so. I don't have much to say about it. One thing I started doing last week was taking pictures with my 3ds. They're really bad, bu kind of fun. I guess now that everyone has phones that can take acceptable quality photos photography for some people is changing, now I want to take crappy photos with a 3ds, because it is novel. It's pretty good at landscape photos. "Good"

I'm also trying to bike more I guess. It's getting a little harder with this class that has me reading 50 pages a day or so and sitting through 45 minutes of lectures. I guess that's less than being in school normally though. I'm going to try to do at least 2 20+ mile rides per week. Tuesday I think I went 30ish miles. Good time. It was north of town, and some of those hills are tough, I wondered if I was going to be able to get up one of them, but I did, slowly pedaling along in the lowest gear. Last week I went for a ride with my roommate, that was lots of fun. Not a 20+ mile ride though.

Here's some more 3ds photos:

Now, the above house is pretty interesting, it's abandoned and falling apart, but it looks pretty cool. It's 19th century, and on the NRHP, so no one can tear it down. I wish someone would live in it.

There are sheep in this photo

I saw the hoofprint of a deer, several of them actually, on campus few days ago, by the prairie acre. I knew there were lots of animals on campus that don't show themselves often, but not deer. It surprised me. I wonder if it was just one errant animal, or if there's lots of deer around campus. It was definitely just one set of deer tracks. Speaking of animals, because of the relative lack of students (I infer) the foxes have been more easy to spot. Been seeing them when I'm on & around campus in the evening.

On my tuesday ride that was very long I saw little butterflies along the route, mostly these hackberry emperors. They were less common in open areas, as they like to be near hackberry trees. At one point I went down a road which was heavily wooded on both sides, and it was like they were swarming me. I hated it. They were all over the road, and got up when I rode by. I killed so many as they flew into my spokes, they flew into my face and were annoying, they flew into my bare arms and chest. (It was like 86 degrees and humid) There were so many of them. Also, they eat dead animals, I saw this firsthand when I came across a car-flattened rabbit corpse completely covered with them. I am not a big fan of hackberry emperors.

I started to write something about how much I love riding my bike at night to put up on the blog. The basic draft went like this:     ...
